Mrs. Levy's Visit

Rosh Hashanah was celebrated about 1 week ago in the Jewish community. Mrs. Levy came to our class to read a story and share some of the traditions her family does during this holiday. The story she read was Spider's first Rosh Hashanah. Also she brought in a loaf of Challah and apples with honey. The kids were super excited to try these new foods. Thanks Mrs. Levy !!!

More pictures of our class turtles. They have hatched and moved into their new digs. Now their tank is covered with research questions from the 1A brainiacs.

EXTRA ! EXTRA ! Read all about it !!
The turtles have hatched ! Who, you ask?
Kelli's Dad brought into school a nest of turtle eggs from their pond at home.
Today 2 hatched. It's a slow process but we saw the turtle crawl out of the egg sac and Ms. Saide was brave enough to pick it up for everyone to see. It was AWESOME !!

THANKS, Kelli and Family !!!!!

The first part of morning meeting is the greeting. Sometimes we greet each other with high fives, sometimes we shake hands, it changes every day. The students favorite part is passing the microphone to greet each other. Also Alaina shared a manatee she made last year in Kindergarten.
This week in 1A we have read Ten Black Dots by Donald Crews. The author creates pictures with the black dots, starting with 1 and ending with 10. The 1A students have started creating their own Black Dot books.

Here Faith is drawing a picture with 2 black dots; 2 black dots make bows in my hair.
Alaina and Camille are excited about their ideas for  2 black dots.
Camille, way to use your finger to keep spaces between the words !!!
